Valhalla Golf Club 7,458 yrd par 71
15503 Shelbyville Rd, Louisville, KY 40243, United States
Designed by Jack Nicklaus and opened in 1986. Valhalla has hosted the PGA Championship in 1996 & 2000 and in 2008 hosted the Ryder Cup. Valhalla's 1st 9 holes has a Scottish links feel to it with wide contouring fairways framed by mounds and lush collars of bluegrass. The green are bent grass which provide a very slick surface and are a modern undulating style. The greens are protected by bunkers, water hazards and scooped out grassy hollows and mounded swatches of bluegrass. The course sets up well for the longer hitters who are able to shape the ball right to left. The undulations around the greens also place a premium on a sharp short game.
